Sunday BrunchΒ

We were all feeling a little ropey (to say the least) after way too much red wine, beer and rum (😷😷😷) the night before, but we still managed a full tourist day out in Paris.

Sunday started with an AMAZING brunch at Cafe Casette. 😍😍😍 The hot chocolate was one of the best I’ve ever had, so rich and delicious!

The best part had to be this: a soft boiled egg in bread crumbs in a creamy mushroom sauce. It was absolutely unreal! Never tried anything like it before.

The french toast that followed was also absolutely delicious and drizzled in toffee sauce with a side of natural yogurt

Next post will be about the sites, rather than food! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

VersaillesΒ

We spent Saturday in The Gardens of Versailles with a picnic. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we were really lucky!

Later in the evening we took a trip to St Germain and enjoyed some amazing food at Chez Gladines πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ˜›- it was absolutely packed full of locals (we had a half an hour wait) and it was really decent value for Paris, I’d definitely go back!

We then had a night out in Paris that none of can remember πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We did pass the Notre Dame though πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Paris (friday pt. 2) πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

We visited Montmartre Cemetery, one of the four largest cemeteries in Paris. Many famous artists have been laid to rest here and it’s a really peaceful and relaxing place to visit.

In the 1780’s citizens were banned from burying corpses within the city limits of Paris due to overcrowding. In the early 19th century new cemeteries were built, including Montmarte in the North. The location is unique as it’s within an abandoned gypsum quarry and had been previously used as a mass grave during the French Revolution.

After this we walked past the Moulin Rogue and their red light district πŸ”΄πŸ”΄πŸ”΄

From there we met our friend and went for Aperol Spritz & Mojitos at Valois 🍹🍹

The three of us walked from there to the Arc De Triomphe to meet our friend who we were staying with in Poissy. We all enjoyed driving around the roundabout that surrounds the Arc, the traffic is absolutely crazy around there!

We were taken to the Bastille area for beers, bread, meat and cheese 😍😍😍 and of course to enjoy the sunshine. We tried a beer that they add caramel too which was unreal! 🍻🍺🍻

On our way to Poissy we managed to pass a few sights, including Place de la Republique. The 31ft bronze statue is of Marianne- known as the personification of the French Republican. She is surrounded by three more statues that personify liberty, fraternity and equality-the values of the French Republic.

Everytime we passed this area there were lots (and lots) of police, as we were told there are many protests around this area now.

Paris ✨✨✨

Had the most magical long weekend in Paris! Going to be sharing a few posts about our experience, starting with our first day: πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Friday πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

We’ve visited a few times, but the first time we went together (five years ago), our first stop was Montmartre & the SacreCoeur. We went back to the same cafe just at the bottom of the stairs and had brunch first.

You get a really decent view of Paris from the SacreCoeur, even in cloudy weather! ☁️☁️☁️

The last time we visited whilst interrailing a couple of years ago, we drank beers on the grass here, but that was in August and the weather was a bit nicer!

The rest of our Friday in Paris will be up soon! πŸ€“πŸ€“πŸ€“

nyxΒ

Very excited to finally get a nyx cosmetics concession in my city!

I bought a couple of things, including their Soft Matte Lip Cream in Havana πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

For the price (Β£5.50) it’s pretty decent, it dried almost instantly after applying but didn’t feel like it was drying out my lips-as many matte lip products do!

The colour isn’t as intense as I would have liked…it took a few applications to build the colour up to the picture above.

Unlike other brands I’ve tried, it also doesn’t last after any eating or drinking at all, so I found myself having to constantly re-apply throughout the day.

Love the shade though, and looking forward to trying to my other purchases from them to see if I like them better!

Crystal Collagen Gold Powder Eye Masks βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨

I discovered these eye masks online last week, and at Β£2.29 for 10 packs, I couldn’t really afford not to try them out! ✨✨✨

So, what makes them ‘gold’?

They’re formulated with pure gold, bio-ingredients and active elements which claim to moisturise, rehydrate and regenerate the eye area.
They help to activate collagen synthesis around the eye tissue, which improves elasticity and firmness. I ordered them because I wanted to see if they’d help to reduce my dark circles, as they say they do.

All you have to do is apply them under the eye area once you’ve washed your face with warm water. The package suggests leaving them on for 15-20 minutes, but I just leave them on for as long as I feel is necessary.

I’ve tried them now for two consecutive days and they do feel both cooling and soothing under the eye area. Similar to a face mask, they feel like a nice little treat for when you have a minute to spare! 🌞

I’ll probably have to wait a little longer to see if they improve my dark circles though!
